Presentation of PCC Halldór Kristjánsson, MD109 Island

 

Halldór Kristjánsson has been a member of the Lions Club Ásbjörn in Hafnarfjörður since 1979 and lives in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. He is an electrical engineer (Cand. Scient.), with an MBAe business degree. He founded an independent IT consulting company in 1986 and has been its CEO from the beginning. He has served on the Board of Directors in a variety of Icelandic companies.

Family

Halldórs wife, Jenný Ágústsdóttir, a dentist, is a member of the Lions Club Kaldá in Hafnarfjörður. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.  Jenny and Halldór have attended many international (10) and national conventions together, the first in Philadelphia 1997 with their two daughters and since 2017 all conventions.

Lions

Since 1983, with several intervals, Halldór has been active on the board of district 109A and multiple district 109.  His duties have included organizing and administering, multiple district and district conventions and NSR (Nordic Cooperation Council) conventions. He has been International Relations Chairperson at the multiple district level and district level and was the General secretary of the NSR (Nordic Cooperation Council) for 2 years.  
Halldór has much experience with Lions both locally and internationally. He has served in all the main positions at the club level as well as in District (D) and Multiple District (MD) positions.
Halldór became a Lions Certified Instructor in 2019 and has facilitated at Lions institutes and been a Group leader since 2020. Halldór has been the GLT for MD109 since 2014 and has translated RLLI courses to Icelandic and developed many local leadership courses for Lions, among them a course for Presidents.
He has been very active in both the Multiple District and District 109A, for many years, since he was the District Governor and later Council Chair of MD109.
Halldór has, among other things, been LCIF Chairperson (D), Cabinet secretary (D), IT Chairperson (D+MD), Extension Chairperson (D+MD), Marketing Chairperson (MD) and a Multiple District Treasurer for many years. He has been very active in Lions education forover two decades and has been involved in teaching at the local RLLI since 2003 and has facilitated leadership courses in the multiple district for a long time.

Awards

Halldór has received numerous international and Icelandic awards for his work for the Lionsand is a 6 diamond Progressive Melvin Jones member. Among them is 3 International Leadership Awards, 1 International Presidents Award and the Kjaransorða which is the highest recognition you can get in Iceland.

Final words

His education, work experience and managerial positions within the Lions and the business community make him well suited to take on the extensive and demanding work of a member of the Lions International Board.
