THE EPITOME OF LEADERSHIP

 

Dr. Manoj Shah of Nairobi, Kenya has served a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 88th International Convention held in Hong Kong, June 27-July 1, 2005. Consequently, he has also served as a Board Appointee in 2011 and 2015.

A Charter member of the Nairobi Greater Lions Club since 1988, Director Shah has held many offices within the association at Club, District and International levels. He has always enrolled his body, soul, spirit and engaged his time wholeheartedly in every position of responsibility entrusted on him. He has served as a Constitutional Area Leader of the Global Action Team, for Africa, and also as a Trustee of the Lions Clubs International Foundation.

Excellence is certainly an ubiquitous attitude in Dr. Manoj. His desire to promote Leadership Development has seen him serve as faculty on many International Lions Leadership Institutes. In addition, he has participated in many leadership workshops throughout Africa, and Asia. He has also served as an International Group Leader for the District Governors Elect seminar several times. He is now a certified LCIP Trainer for Lions Clubs International.

Past Director Shah doesn't believe in following the status quo. He had successfully spearheaded the challenge to support the Lions Campaign Sight First II and Campaign 100 Programs. He single handedly raised over US$ 10 million in Africa with over 20 Lead Gifts Donors. Past Director Shah has also served as the Chairperson of the 36th and 46th ISAAME Forums and is a Humanitarian Partner and a major lead gift donor.

Dr. Shah is a highly decorated, adored and respected member of the Kenyan community. He has been the recipient of the prestigious “ELDER OF THE BURNING SPEAR” (EBS) Award by His Excellency the President of Kenya for his dedicated role and active participation in Nation Building. He is also a recipient of “THE AMBASSADOR OF GOODWILL AWARD” by Lions Clubs International. He has also been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities and recognized by Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II: who presented him with the prestigious COMMANDER TO THE VENERABLE OF ST. JOHN MEDAL (CStJ). He measures his success not by the numerous awards he has been bestowed with, but by the number of lives he has touched and served.

In matters of methodology Past Director Shah swims with the current, but in matters of principle he stands like a rock. In addition to his Lion activities, he is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is currently the Chairman of the M.P. Shah Hospital, Chairperson of the Automobile Association of Kenya Road Safety Council, Member of the Priory Council of St. John, Trustee of the Kilimanjaro Blind Trust, Board Member of Special Olympics Kenya and an active member of the Visa Oshwal Community.

Past Director Shah is a successful Businessman with interests in the Automobile, Property Hospitality and Finance sectors. He is married to Jayna, an equally dedicated Lion Member of Lions Club Nairobi Greater and are both Progressive Melvin Jones Fellows. They are proud parents of two daughters, Priyum and Lion Soyum, a resolute leader. Dr. Manoj & Jayna are proud grandparents of two granddaughters.

Dr. Manoj Shah has a firm conviction in the maxim, "The progression of humankind is certain to happen when we move from human to kind. One who serves gains more than one who is served."
