Upcomming CA4 Candidate as
International Director

Presentation of PDG Karl Brewi
MD114 Austria

Born in 1948 in Germany I have been a Lion since 1991, when I joined Lions Club Regensburg/Germany. Since 1993 I am a member of LC Vienna Marc Aurel, after having moved to Austria for professional reasons.

Following an education to become a bank manager and my studies in Economics/Company Tax I was working in the field of international trade and transport, mainly focused on Eastern European Countries, the Near East and North Africa. In 1995 I became a managing partner and founded a river shipping company transporting dry and liquid cargos/containers along the Rhine-Danube-Connection between Rotterdam and the Black/Mediterranean Sea. I retired in 2020.

I am married to Bettina; we have four children and one grandchild – all working in different fields. In 2007 Bettina founded the LC Wien FOCUS, a Lions Ladies Club. So, in the coming year we will have collected 50 years (33 + 17) of Lionism - a reason to celebrate!

In LC Vienna Marc Aurel I was overseeing the Club activities, following on to become treasurer and Club president, each for 3 years. In 2012 I took over as District Treasurer of MD 114 O. In 2014-2015 I served as District Governor followed by various positions in the MD 114 Austria (Chairperson of the Hilfseinrichtung Österreichischer Lions, GST, MD Treasurer from 2016-2024).

In addition, in 2017, as representative of Lions Austria I was determined to coordinate the application for the LCICon 2025 to be held in Vienna. I did the same for 2026. Unfortunately, we did not yet succeed to welcome the Lions International Convention to one of Europe’s most cultural capitals.

In 2018 the decision has been made to organize the LDUN Vienna in alteration with MD 102 Suisse/Liechtenstein and UNOG Geneva as "UNLD Europe" in a 2-year rotation. I was elected as organizer of the UNLD in Vienna in 2022, to be followed by the next one in 2024.

For the Lions Europa Forum 2023 in Klagenfurt, I took on the position of General Secretary and led the organization of the Forum, which received many recognitions from the more than 1,100 participants.

Currently, I am a candidate for the position of International Director 2024-2026 representing the Constitutional Area IV.
